Dhaka University (DU) authorities have received Taka 1 million as a donation to increase the capital of “Mirza Mohammad Abdullah and Begum Badrunnesa Memorial Scholarship Fund” at the university. Vice-Chancellor of Dhaka University Prof. Dr. Md. Akhtaruzzaman, Daughter of late Mirza Mohammad Abdullah and Director of the Institute of Disaster Management and Vulnerability Studies of DU Prof. Dr. Mahbuba Nasreen and Acting Registrar Md. Enamuzzaman were present, among others, on this occasion.
Out of the income of this trust fund, every year one meritorious student who will secure the highest CGPA in BDM (Hons.) Examination from the Institute of Disaster Management and Vulnerability Studies of DU will be awarded “Mirza Mohammad Abdullah and Begum Badrunnesa Memorial Gold Medal”. Besides, some poor but meritorious students will be given scholarship.
Vice-Chancellor Prof. Dr. Md. Akhtaruzzaman thanked the donor for his donation. He also urged the DU alumni to come forward with their helping hands to promote academic career of students of the university following the ideals of DUAA President AK Azad .
