The Global Inclusive Conference on Disaster Management (GIDMC) is being reconvened following the success of its 2018 meeting on disaster management. This year GIDMC would be held at Hotel Le Meridian on 1 – 2 July 2019 in New Delhi, India hosted by Oil India Ltd. And partnered by GAIL with a theme “Visioning Sustainable Future-RESIILIENCE| PREPAREDNESS| MITIGATION”.
This series of conferences and Exhibitions originated with the need for Industries, academia and practitioners to exchange knowledge and experience on the way to handle the increasing risk of natural and human-made disasters. Recent major earthquakes, tsunamis, hurricanes, floods and other natural phenomena have resulted in huge losses in terms of human life and property destruction. A new range of human-made disasters have afflicted humanity in modern times; Human errors have been added to more classical disasters such as those due to the failure of industrial installations for instance.
It is important to understand the nature of these global risks to be able to develop strategies to prepare for these events and plan effective responses in terms of disaster management and the associated human health impacts.
The conference provides a forum for the exchange of information between Industries, academics and practitioners, and a venue for presentation of the latest developments. This time GIDMC will be publishing a white paper on improving resilience, mainstreaming DRR, Global sustainability and changing role of the industries, health and insurance.
It is both a crucial and sensitive time in the industry and we at iCONEX remain inspired to bring together the most influential members of the community. The event provides a platform for the world’s disaster management and response community through a mix session formats, plenary sessions, keynote addresses and exhibition to enable a profound exchange of science, policy, and practice.
